Urogynaecologist Prof Linda Cardozo is the recipient of both a Blair Bell Medal and a Zenith Global Health Award. This achievement follows her receipt of an OBE in 2015.

Professor Cardozo works in Urogynaecology, caring for women who suffer from urinary dysfunction. The awards recognise her tireless efforts to promote better care for women, through research, development of novel treatment options, and raising the profile of this area of medicine.

Linda Cardozo is an accomplished gynaecological surgeon and the surgical courses she runs at King’s College Hospital are popular with gynaecologists from all over the world, who are keen to see her demonstrate the most recent surgical procedures. She established the Urogynaecology service at King’s College Hospital while she was still a trainee herself. The unit has grown to be one of the foremost tertiary urogynaecolgy units with an international reputation.

Mr Mike Savvas, Consultant Gynaecologist, said:

Her energy and commitment to delivering the best possible care to women with urinary dysfunction was inspirational and as a result many of her students and trainees from King’s College Hospital have chosen to pursue careers in this field, with many of her former trainees having gone on to set up highly successful urogynaecolgy units of their own, both in the UK and abroad.

Linda Cardozo has published more than 500 papers and books. She has also made a major contribution to the care of women through her work for The Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists (RCOG) and as a council member of RCOG.
