An overview of some of the fundraising activity taking place across our partnership to provide practical and wellbeing support for NHS staff and opportunities for researchers.
Emergency appeals have been launched across our partnership to provide practical and wellbeing support for our NHS staff and ensure our academics, researchers and clinicians can continue to play a key role as we work together to overcome this pandemic.

Guy’s and St Thomas’ NHS Foundation Trust: urgent coronavirus response
The urgent response fund will support staff across St Thomas', Guy's and Evelina London Children’s Hospitals.
Some of the ways donations support hospital and community teams include:
- emotional and psychological support for staff feeling the effects of stress and anxiety
- physiotherapists and dieticians to help support staff through their shifts
- training and educational support to upskill teams
- groceries for those who can’t get to the shops after working long shifts
- taxies so staff can get home safely
- support for staff facing financial hardship
- spaces for staff to rest during their shifts
- extra help to support running the spiritual care team.

King’s College Hospital Charity: Hospital Heroes Appeal
King’s College Hospital Charity is raising emergency funds to provide additional care, and practical and wellbeing support for staff at King’s College Hospital NHS Foundation Trust. This includes:
- wellbeing hubs which provide staff with a place to take a break, decompress and support one another. These are now open at King’s College Hospital and Princess Royal University Hospital
- care packages including snacks, toiletries, sanitary items, phone chargers and shaving kits
- groceries, and transport and accommodation costs for those who are staying nearby to increase time spent with patients
- ongoing emotional and wellbeing support for staff, over and above the part time psychologist funded for staff in the Emergency and Critical Care departments.
The charity is also inviting the community to send messages of support for NHS staff.

King’s College London: COVID-19 Response Fund
King’s College London are committed to using their expertise and resources in support of the international response to COVID-19.
Research teams, across a number of disciplines, are working to tackle the impacts of the outbreak in four keys areas:
- researching life-saving treatments for COVID-19
- support for incredible NHS staff and their mental health
- a global response to help developing countries fight the outbreak
- help for students facing financial hardship as a result of the epidemic.
The COVID-19 Response Fund will help ensure academics, researchers and clinicians can continue to play a key role as we work together to overcome this pandemic.

South London and Maudsley NHS Foundation Trust and Maudsley Charity: COVID-19 Emergency Appeal
Maudsley Charity is supporting South London and Maudsley NHS Foundation Trust’s patients and staff to ensure hospital and community services continue to offer the best possible support to people experiencing mental illness. This includes:
- donations of iPads to help keep patients and families connected
- children’s activities
- emergency food for community patients
- treats for staff
- support to child at home who are feeling anxious (building on the South London and Maudsley NHS Foundation CUES-Ed programme)
- joint funding with King College London to develop a series of short films on parenting under pressure and exploring ways to support the long-term mental health impact of the crisis.
