King’s Health Partners has published Innovation Impact Stories, a new book showcasing a wide variety of clinical academic collaborations to improve the lives of our patients.
The book features examples from each of our partnership’s Clinical Academic Groups highlighting how teams from across our four partners have worked together to find innovative solutions to shared challenges.
From the first robotic kidney surgeries in the UK and redesigning hip fracture pathways to improve patient experience, to better mental healthcare for homeless people and screening people for common mental illnesses in outpatient clinics at our acute trusts; our teams are continually delivering clinical innovations underpinned by the latest research and comprehensive staff training.
The 22 stories offer just a snapshot of the collaboration happening across our partnership. They are a demonstration of our collective mission to make sure that the lessons from research are used more swiftly, effectively and systematically to provide better, more joined up healthcare services for people with physical and mental health care problems.
Launching the book, Professor Sir Robert Lechler, Executive Director of King’s Health Partners said:
At King’s Health Partners, our primary purpose is innovation. Innovation to translate cutting-edge research into patient care as quickly as possible; to deliver improved outcomes for our patients and service users; to make sure our workforce have the skills they need to deliver the best possible care; to connect mental and physical health; and to improve the health and wellbeing of our local population. I hope you enjoy reading about the many different ways in which our Academic Health Sciences Centre is using innovation to continually drive improvements with a real and lasting impact.
The book was officially launched at our 2017 King’s Health Partners Conference on 17 May. Delegates from across our partnership and local stakeholders came together to discuss our progress over the last year, to reflect on the opportunities and challenges for the year ahead and to hear first-hand about some of the innovative, collaborative work featured in the book.
