Prof Mona Bafadhel [pictured] tells us what she enjoys most about working across a wide and varied brief.
What is your role for King’s Health Partners?
I have joined the KHP community with my clinical academic role as Professor of Respiratory Medicine at King’s College London and Consultant Respiratory Physician at Guy’s and St Thomas’ NHS Foundation Trust. I was appointed as co-lead of the King’s Health Partners Respiratory & Allergy Clinical Academic Group in March 2022 and the Director for the new King’s Centre for Lung Health which launched in June 2022.
What do you enjoy most about your role?
As you can see, my role is varied and it’s the variety of the people I meet that I most enjoy. For example, I greatly enjoy seeing my patients in clinics and in the research setting. I thoroughly enjoy meeting colleagues across the College, the Trust and KHP. Finally, I really enjoying meeting early career investigators across the Respiratory Sciences and Respiratory Medicine – as I get to learn lots from them!
What inspired you to get into this work?
We’ve come through a great deal following the pandemic in Respiratory Medicine. I hope that this is now the opportunity for all of us working together with the aim of improving lung health for all of our patients.
What are the benefits of working in partnership?
Working together is great. I think it works best because it’s about shared experiences, ideas and journeys.
What would be your one career top tip?
Be brilliant! and don’t forget to enjoy it!!
