Prof Matthew Hotopf CBE has been appointed Deputy Executive Director at King’s Health Partners (KHP) and Chief Academic Officer for South London and Maudsley NHS Foundation Trust (FT).  

Matthew is a Professor of General Hospital Psychiatry, a consultant liaison psychiatrist, and Executive Dean at the Institute of Psychiatry, Psychology & Neuroscience at King's College London. Matthew has been awarded a CBE for services to Psychiatric Research and the Academy of Psychosomatic Medicine’s 2016 Wayne Katon Research Award. He is also a NIHR Senior Investigator and Fellow of the Academy of Medical Sciences

Through his new roles as Deputy Executive Director at KHP and Chief Academic Officer for South London and Maudsley NHS FT, Matthew will play a critical role in working with Prof Graham Lord to create opportunities for effective clinical academic integration across our partners. Graham serves as KHP’s Executive Director, Senior Vice President, Health and Life Sciences at King’s College London, and Chief Academic Officer, a Non-Executive Director role on the Board of Directors, at Guy’s and St Thomas’ and King’s College Hospital NHS FTs.

Prof Graham Lord, Executive Director at KHP, said:

Matthew joins King’s Health Partners at a critical time too, as we develop our KHP 2030 strategy. His new positions within KHP and South London and Maudsley will help us achieve more - and have greater impact for those in need. I look forward to our working together.
