The IMPARTS project will end in October 2023 meaning the data collection platform that is currently used to send mental health questionnaires to patients will no longer be available.

The IMPARTS project - which includes the IMPARTS data collection platform - will end in October 2023 when Epic, a new electronic health records system, goes live across King’s College Hospital and Guy’s and St Thomas’s NHS Foundation Trusts.

When the system goes live it will contain some questionnaires, previously sent out to patients by IMPARTS or DrDoctor, which are designed to assess patient’s health and wellbeing before they attend an appointment related to a physical health condition.

IMPARTS is a Mind & Body project that was developed to improve the identification of anxiety and low mood in patients attending clinic for long-term (physical health) conditions such as Diabetes, COPD or Heart Failure. IMPARTS uses questionnaires which assess a patient’s wellbeing, smoking status, depression and anxiety symptoms, and other factors which may relate to the patient group, such as sleep, pain, quality of life and medication adherence.

Feedback has shown that the project had a positive impact for many patients who took part. Fiona Squire, a limb reconstruction patient said, “I was able to use the IMPARTS programme, I became Fiona again with a life changing injury and a team who cared for the whole person”.

Although the IMPARTS project is ending, some of the questionnaires will still be available through EPIC, so patients will continue to benefit from this kind of holistic care. So far 77 questionnaires have been built into EPIC and more questionnaires have also been requested through Specialist Pathway Groups. If you have any questions about the end of the IMPARTS project, you can contact the team imparts@slam.nhs.uk to request the FAQ document. For an overview of the situation please visit the IMPARTS website which will be updated as and when there is further news.
